Make Lemonade

This is a yummy, yummy lemonade.

5 Organic lemons squeezed
1/4 Cup organic maple syrup
1 Quart of water

We make this about every other day and so we're not buying any more juice. Try rolling the lemons on the counter before squeezing them, they release more juice this way. We use filtered rainwater for drinking and we try to use as much of the pulp as we can. It's really yummy!

New acronym: MPL = Mileage Per Lemon.

With your inspiration, I made lemonade this morning. I hope your lemons cost less than mine did! Since a)I had no organic maple syrup and b)I had just finished candying grapefruit peels, I decided to use the little bit of sugar water that was left in the pan when the peels were done. It was just the right amount for a quart of lemonade! I love synchronicity.

I rolled the lemons, quartered them logitudinally, squeezed them, and set the peels aside. I pulled the pulp and membrane out of each section and gave some of this to my birds to eat. The rest went into the compost. The cleaned out peels are being saved in the freezer till I get the urge to candy them. I wish I could use the seeds to grow my own lemon tree!
